Discovering that I was severely dehydrated, and making an effort to overcome that, has changed my life.
I can’t even express how much better I feel. I am joyously alive, not like I used to feel, when my life was all about pushing rocks uphill again and again. Thinking back, I am convinced that I was dehydrated for most of my adult life. For most of my life I survived on various sugary brown liquids.
So, now, I have to ask:
If I had been hydrated:
Would I have been more alert, more focused, better able to protect my children and myself? Would I have said “Hell NO! You are not treating me like that!” and left for the high country many years sooner?
If I had been hydrated:
Would I have realized that I wasn’t the crazy one five or ten years earlier?
If I had been hydrated:
Would I have gotten involved with a batterer in the first place?
In the end, it’s all about self-image, which is a product of how you feel; and how you feel is a reflection of self-care and self-love; how you choose to live your life; and how you chose your friends and lovers is ALL a reflection of how you feel about yourself; and ALL of those things depend at the most basic level on hydration and nutrition.
I’m 61 years in my current physical arrangement of particles, before I discovered the magic of hydration, (not that long ago), I felt about 90, and headed very shortly for the big sleep. Today, I feel seventeen (give or take a few old bones, grumbling knees and stiff knuckles).
If you feel hopeless, older than your years, exhausted by 9:00 a.m., or just amazingly stupid. Maybe you are dehydrated.
If you never take another piece of advice in your life, this is the one exception you should make: Hydrate!!!
